What Kenji collects.

Last updated 20 October 2026. This covers the Kenji website and the free sign-up.

Short version: trying a question on the website saves nothing. If you give us your email or make an account, we keep what you type, and we say below what and why.

Trying a question

On the SAT page you can answer one question with Kenji. The answers you pick stay in your browser. We do not save them on our servers, and we do not ask for an account or an email.

If you leave your email for SAT tips

When you send us your email, we save:

  • your email address;
  • whether you used the student or the parent version of the page, and the topics you chose (on the SAT page, all of them);
  • which form you used (for example the SAT page) and when you sent it;
  • if you arrived from an ad, the campaign tags in the address you clicked (for example utm_source, utm_campaign, and the ad click ID Google adds), the page you landed on, and the same tags from your first visit if you came before.

We use this to send you short notes about studying for the SAT and about Kenji, no more than once a month, and to learn which ads bring people to Kenji. The list is kept in our database, which only our own server can read. We do not send a message to check that an address is yours, so please use your own. Each email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails.

If you create a free account

Signing up asks for your first name, your email address and a password. Sign-in is run by our account provider, Supabase, and it may email you a link to confirm your address. Your password is stored by the provider as a one-way hash, which means we cannot read it. No credit card is asked for.

With an account, Kenji also saves your practice (what you answered and where you got stuck) so the next session can start where you left off.

Campaign tags kept on your device

If you arrive from an ad, the website keeps the campaign tags in your browser (for this visit, and for your first visit) and adds them to the link to the sign-up page. This is stored on your own device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Google measurement

When we run Google Ads, we may switch on Google’s tag on this website to count visits, sign-ups and ad clicks. It also passes on that someone answered the trial question, and whether the answer was right, but not who they are. The tag starts with every storage choice set to “denied”, so Google does not store cookies on your device or use your visit for ad personalization. Without those cookies Google can still receive a signal that a page was visited. If we change this, for example by adding a cookie choice, this page will say so.

Who sees it

The Kenji team, and the services that run the website and accounts for us (our hosting provider, Railway, and Supabase). A teacher sees a student’s practice only after that student joins their class, and never the student’s conversations with Kenji.

Ask us to remove it

Write to [email protected] from the address you used, and we will remove your email, your account and what we saved with them. Back to the Kenji home page.
